AirVenture 2017- Friday Update
25th anniversary of Young Eagles, Stan Lee's appearance, the Fun Fly Zone, and the Blue Angels, are some of the spotlights of our Friday update at #OSH17. Enjoy your Saturday in Oshkosh!
AirVenture After Sunset
AirVenture is filled with nonstop action and activities throughout the day, but it doesn’t stop there. Once the sun sets, the fun heats up with a concert, fireworks, Twilight Flight Fest, and a balloon glow.
Stories to Tell: Spitfire Mk. IX
While any warbird brings some history along with it, this particular fighter, a 1942 Spitfire Mk.IX, brought more than its share when it came to EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017.
The Fun Fly Zone at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017
The Fun Fly Zone at EAA AirVenture Oshkosh is home to all kinds of flying machines, from autogyros and helicopters to powered parachutes, light homebuilts, and the rugged mounts of the Valdez STOL competitors.
Boeing YL-15 - Defying Physics
Boeing built two XL-15s as proof of concept prototypes and then 10 YL-15s for evaluation as they competed for the U.S. Army Air Forces contract for a new L-bird, a liaison aircraft. Boeing ultimately lost the contract to Cessna.
Twilight Flight Fest Video Captures Exciting Moments
Even when the night air show wasn’t going on during EAA AirVenture Oshkosh 2017, there was another evening show to be found on the grounds. The Twilight Flight Fest was full of exciting, entertaining, and affordable forms of aviation up close.
For many people who come to AirVenture, the Homebuilts area is their happy place. With a variety of types from seas of RVs to singular standouts, it's easy to see why.
